Terminally Ill Adults - End of Life Bill

In LDCF, we know that for many of our members this is an important topic. We featured some of your comments and articles in our winter 2024 newsletter. Click HERE to read the newsletter. We very much welcome input from our members. Please do email me at [email protected] with your thoughts, comments and opinions.

As you’ll know, a majority of MPs voted for the Bill to proceed at Second Reading on Friday 29 November. It has now been given to a Public Bill Committee, made up of 23 MPs, who will scrutinise it over the coming months. The Committee will begin formal scrutiny of the Bill in the next couple of weeks, and it has launched a call for evidence, which seeks specific input from people with “relevant expertise”.

MPs want to hear from people with specific knowledge, including medical professionals, those with legal knowledge and expertise, those with a relevant academic background (e.g. ethics), those who work with vulnerable adults, and those with experience of living with or caring for someone living with a terminal diagnosis. If that’s you – or you know someone who fits this description – please follow the link below.

Call for evidence

If this isn't you, there will be other opportunities to engage with MPs and the wider process. It will take time for both Houses of Parliament to scrutinise the Bill, and there are more debates and votes ahead.
